CCBC Essex Athletics, Lace up with LAX join forces to help local homeless shelter

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD -- Community College of Baltimore County Essex Athletics today announced that it has partnered with Lace up with LAX and will hold a fundraiser on March 20, 2018, during its men's and women's lacrosse games, to collect new children's shoes to be donated to Eastern Family Resource Center, a homeless shelter and transitional housing facility in Baltimore County.

"We are honored and excited to partner with Lace up with LAX," said CCBC Essex Athletic Operations Assistant Rocco Geppi. "This is a great opportunity to assist our community, while at the same time spread such a positive message."

A 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, Lace up with LAX is dedicated to ending homelessness around the country. They believe in defining the legacy of lacrosse players off the field by working to provide children who are homeless a new pair of shoes and, in turn, a step toward a brighter future.

"Each year, lacrosse teams from around the country, and world, come together as part of Lace Up With LAX and define their legacy by hosting games and collecting shoes to donate to children who are homeless," said Lace up with LAX President and Founder Melissa J. Rose. "Over the past 5 years, Lace Up with LAX has had over 5,000 pairs of shoes donated to shelters around the country."

The men's lacrosse team will host Finger Lakes Community College at 4 p.m., followed by the women welcoming Frederick Community College at 6 p.m. Donations can be made at the gate or contact Rocco Geppi at rgeppi@ccbcmd.edu to make other arrangements. Cash donations will also be accepted and will be used to purchase children's shoes.
