Trio of Knights Earn NJCAA All-Academic Student-Athlete Awards

Colorado Springs, Colo. -- The National Junior College Athletic Association earlier this month released its 2017-18 All-Academic Student-Athlete Awards and Knights' Mikala Forbes (volleyball), Erin Moran (soccer and lacrosse) and John Assaro all earned honors. It's the fifth straight year that CCBC Essex had three or more student athletes qualify for awards.

Forbes, who maintained a 4.0 grade point average during her two years at CCBC, earned First Team honors for a second consecutive year. She will be attending the University of Maryland (College Park) in the fall.

Moran earned Second Team honors (GPA of 3.80-3.99) for her performance in the classroom. She will attend and play soccer for St. Mary's College in the fall.

Assaro received Third Team (GPA of 3.60-3.79) for his work off the soccer pitch. He is attending and playing at Saint Francis University (Pa.) in the fall.
