Watson, Vaught Named NJCAA Players of the Week

Baltimore County, Md. -- The National Junior College Athletic Association today announced its Players of the Week for April 22-28 and Knights Nolan Watson and Kollin Vaught were selected for their respected sports. 

Watson was named the NJCAA Baseball Division II Player of the Week after helping his team to a 6-1 week, with a slash line of .458/.618/.958, 23 total bases, and 6 extra base hits. His week was highlighted on April 27 when he hit for the cycle in game one of a double header against Southern Maryland, which included a grand slam and 6 RBI. The Knights' catcher was also 8-of-10 in stolen base opportunities. He hit safely in 6-of-7 games and reached base in all seven. He struck out just three times in 34 plate appearances, while drawing nine walks.

Vaught was selected as the NJCAA Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week, as he continues to be the NJCAA's best faceoff man this season. He ended the regular season with an .835 win percentage (213-255) and last week against the No. 4 and No. 5 teams in the country, he won 44-53 (.830) faceoffs, including 20-29 vs. Howard and a perfect 24-24 vs. Suffolk. Of the 44 faceoff wins last week, he collected 29 ground balls to win his own faceoffs. Vaught has also scored eight goals and has four assists, all from his FOGO position. His next closest competitor in the nation is 7% behind in faceoff win percentage.
