Bio

Tim King was hired on January 30, 2017 as the Knights’ head men’s lacrosse coach. He is a CCBC Essex student-athlete and coaching alumni.

As a midfielder with the Knights (1988-1989), King helped lead the team to consecutive NJCAA Region XX titles, as well as NJCAA Men’s Lacrosse Championship appearances in both seasons. He earned All-NJCAA Region XX honors and was a team captain.

After CCBC Essex, King transferred to and played lacrosse at the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) from 1991-1992. He earned his bachelor’s degree at UMBC in 1993.

King began his collegiate coaching career with the Knights (2008-2010), serving as defensive coordinator and recruited student athletes from Maryland, as far west as Colorado, north into Pennsylvania, south in Virginia, and also Ohio and Illinois. His efforts and tutelage led to two NJCAA Region XX titles (2009-2010), two national runner-up finishes (2008, 2010), development of 10 All-Region and six NJCAA All-Americans over three seasons at CCBC Essex.

King served as the head assistant coach at Florida Institute of Technology (NCAA Division II) from 2012-2016, and served as defensive coordinator, offensive coordinator, as well as overseeing face-offs and the team’s transition game. In 2015, the Panthers won 241-of-395 face-offs (.610), a school record, second in the Sunshine Conference, and ninth in the nation.

Prior to Florida Tech, King was the head assistant coach and defensive coordinator for Florida Southern College (NCAA Division II) from 2010-2012. The team went 18-13 (.581) and reached the Deep South Conference Championship during his two seasons on staff after winning just eight games combined the previous two seasons.

In addition to his college experience, King has spent time as a head coach and assistant coach for the Chesapeake Rock Lacrosse Club’s U16, U17, and U18 Premier teams (2007-2010) and was the offensive coordinator at Friend’s School in Baltimore from 2007-2008.

King graduated from Hammond High School (Columbia, Md.) in 1987 where he was an All-Howard County honorable mention midfielder.

By day, King is employed by Brine National Lacrosse Classic as it National Director – High School Boy’s Division, where he also served as its head coach for the Maryland Preparatory School Varsity High School team from 2010-2011.
