Women’s Basketball: Knights Release 2019-20 Schedule
Baltimore County, Md. – For the first time in 15 years, women's basketball will be played inside the CCBC Essex Wellness and Athletics Center. The Knights roster is full of talented young women eager to get the season started.
"I'm focused and committed to building upon [my previous coaching] experiences and my promise is to bring the same passion, determination, and commitment to CCBC Essex," head coach Mike Seney said in a March press release.
High expectations are already beginning to surround the Knights, as the team features multiple NCAA Division I ready student athletes.
The Knights open the preseason on October 14 with a scrimmage at Washington Adventist (Takoma Park, Md.), an NAIA institution.
Essex's second scrimmage of the season will be against NCAA Division I program UMBC (Catonsville, Md.) on October 17. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
On October 19, the Knights take on its last four-year college opponent as they head to Washington, D.C. to meet up with University of the District of Columbia for a 5 p.m. game. UDC is an NCAA Division II school.
The first opportunity for fans to see the team at home will be on October 27, as they host the CCBC Essex Jamboree. Doors open at 10 a.m. and admission is $5.00 for the entire day.
Essex opens its season the following week at home against Mercer County Community College (Windsor Township, N.J.) on November 2. Tipoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
Three days later, on November 5, the Knights host Rowan College at Burlington County (Pemberton, N.J.) in a primetime 7 p.m. tip.
The Knights are then on the road for the rest of the month, beginning with its North Carolina swing.
On November 9, the Knights take on Cape Fear (Wilmington, N.C.), followed the next day by Wake Tech (Raleigh, N.C.). Both games are scheduled for 1 p.m.
They return to Maryland and on November 16-17, will be across town at sibling campus CCBC Catonsville for the Lady Cardinals' Mixer. Essex plays Union County (Cranford, N.J.) on day one and Harcum College (Bryn Mawr, Pa.) on the second day.
The Knights hit Interstate 95 north the following week for the Monroe Classic. Essex faces ASA College (Bronx, N.Y.) on November 23 and Monroe (New Rochelle, N.Y.) on November 24.
CCBC Essex will open Maryland Juco Conference and Region XX play on November 26 at Howard. Tipoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
After spending nearly a month away from its home court, the Knights return to CCBC Essex for a pair of weekend games that have regional implications.
On December 7, they host Potomac State (Keyser, W.Va.) and the next day take on the other CCBC, Community College of Beaver County (Monaca, Pa.). The games with tip at 2 p.m. and 12 p.m., respectively.
Arguably the most highly anticipated game of the Knights' season is on December 12 when the team heads to Bel Air, Md. to face conference and regional foe Harford.
It will be Seney's first time back to the APG Federal Credit Union Arena since he led the Fighting Owls to five consecutive conference and regional titles, and four trips to the NJCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championship tournament.
On December 14-15, the Knights will be back in New York, this time for the Thunderwolves Classic hosted by Niagara County (Sanborn, N.Y.). Essex plays the host school on day one and Genesee (Batavia, N.Y.) on day two.
Maryland Juco and Region XX opponent Chesapeake College comes to Essex on December 18. It will be the Knights first home evening contest in a month and a half.
The Knights will then head to D.C. to finish out 2019 with the Title IX Classic. This marks the tournament's 10-year anniversary and it will run December 27-29.

Essex will ring in the new year playing the bulk of its conference and regional schedule. Eleven of the Knights final 12 regular season games are against Maryland Juco and/or Region XX opponents.
On January 8, the Knights head to Rockville, Maryland to face the ever-dangerous Montgomery Raptors, a team that holds a 61-25 (.803) overall record during the last three seasons.
CCBC Essex is back on the interstate two days later to North East, Maryland for a 6 p.m. tipoff with Cecil.
The Seahawks are looking to rebound this year. They finished 4-16 last season, after earning 19 or more wins each of the previous three seasons.
The Knights play three of their next five games at home, starting with Frederick on January 15.
On January 17, the Knights renew a rivalry that has been absent for a decade and a half, when they travel to meet CCBC Catonsville. Tipoff is at 5 p.m.
The Owls of Prince George's visit CCBC Essex on January 22, and then the Knights head to Annandale, Va. to face Northern Virginia. Tips are scheduled for 6 p.m. and 5 p.m., respectively.
After the Knights host the Garrett Lakers on February 5 (6 p.m.), they are on the road for games at Anne Arundel (2 p.m.) and Allegany (1 p.m.) on February 8 and February 15.
CCBC Essex takes a break from its conference and regional schedule on February 19 to host Lackawanna (Scranton, Pa.). The scheduled start time is 6 p.m.
The Knights close out its home slate on February 28 against College of Southern Maryland. This is also sophomore night, and tipoff is 6 p.m.
The regular season comes to a close on February 28, as Essex heads out to meet Hagerstown on the hardwood at 7 p.m.
Postseason
The road to nationals begins with the NJCAA Region XX Division II Tournament, held March 7-8. A host school will be named before the end of the fall semester.
The winner of the tournament will earn an automatic bid to the NJCAA Division II Women's Basketball Championship in Port Huron, Michigan, which runs March 17-21.
