Moye Wins Second Consecutive Conference Athlete of the Month Award

Baltimore, Md. -- Knights sophomore guard Mya Moye has earned Maryland Juco December Women's Basketball Athlete of the Month, as announced today by the conference. It is her second in as many months. 

In nine December games, the Florida A&M University transfer averaged 21 points, 6.8 assists and three steals per game, while hitting 83.8% (57-68) of her free throws.

She shot 35.9% from the field and made 33.8% of her three-point attempts.

Moye scored in double digits in all nine games and had five games with 20 or more points, as the Knights went 8-1 in December.

On December 18th, the sophomore had a double-double on 32 points (9-20) and 12 assists as the Knights defeated Chesapeake 94-70, giving the Skipjacks its first regional loss this season.

December 27-29 at the National Title IX Tournament in Washington D.C., Moye helped lead the Knights to the Junior College title and was voted Tournament MVP.

She averaged 22.3 points, 3.7 rebounds, 6.7 assists and four steals per game, while shooting 38.3% from the field, 36.4% behind the arc and 82% from the line during the three-day tournament.

For all of her efforts in December, Moye also earned NJCAA Women's Basketball Division II Player of the Week (December 16-January 5) honors.
