The Knights Winter Prospect Camp is designed for student-athletes of High School grades 9-12, who are striving to compete at the college level. All participants will have an opportunity to meet, learn, and be evaluated by current CCBC Essex baseball coaches. Whether you are looking to train with a top-level NJCAA coaching staff or showcase your skills with the hopes of bringing your game to the next level, this camp is for you!

Camp coaching staff and instructors will include the Knights’ baseball coaching staff, led by head coach Sean O’Connor, pitching coach Tim O’Brien, and assistant coaches Paul DiPino and Derick MacPhearson. Student-athletes from the 2020 Knights’ baseball team will also be on staff to participate as assistant camp instructors and interact with prospects.

Our goals are to provide an ideal forum for prospective student-athletes to display their athletic and baseball talents to the CCBC Essex baseball coaching staff. We will also provide instruction to improve each participants fundamental skills, increase their understanding and confidence in all facets of the game of baseball, and prepare them to the fullest for their upcoming seasons and future collegiate baseball careers.

The camp format will emphasize pitching instruction, individual defensive position play, hitting fundamentals, base running, arm care and overall strength and agility training.

Participants will be tested and evaluated in key skills areas including: arm strength, running speed, hitting, pitching, catching, throwing, fielding and base running during general and position-specific instructional skill development sessions. We will also include sessions covering the unique features of the CCBC Essex campus and the Knights’ baseball program, academic requirements and expectations, our recruiting and admissions process, and balancing academics and baseball in the college environment. An optional campus tour for all players and parents will be included.
