Men's Lacrosse: No. 4 Knights Clip Hawks, No. 1 Lions Up Next

Baltimore County, Md. -- No. 4 CCBC Essex extended its win streak to four with a convincing 30-2 victory over the College of Southern Maryland on Tuesday night. This marks the second consecutive game that the Knights have put up at least 30 goals.

The home team started the game aggressively, as freshman faceoff specialist Kollin Vaught (Central York) won the opening faceoff and found the back of the net just six seconds into play.

The Hawks (1-3) struggled to keep up with the Knights' fast paced offense the entire game.

Fourteen different Knights scored on the night and the team racked up 20 goals in the first half.

Sophomore midfielder Greg Johanning (Tiverton) scored three goals in the opening quarter, helping CCBC Essex jump out to an early 8-0 advantage.

Southern Maryland showed life late in the first quarter when freshman midfielder Jordan Sinclair scored off a successful clear, but the Knights tacked on two goals to take a 10-1 lead going into the second stanza.

Freshman attacker Mitchell Foard (Archbishop Curley) took over in the second quarter, ripping in four of the Knights' six goals in the period to give his team a comfortable lead heading into halftime.

Foard finished the game with six goals and two assists.

The visitors slowed down the Knights' offense in the second half, but could not come back from the large deficit.

CCBC Essex never took its foot off the accelerator, winning the shots battle 53-15.

Next up, the Knights look to keep their winning streak alive when they travel to Hofstra University to take on the No. 1 ranked Nassau Community College Lions this Saturday. Game time is slated for 5 p.m.
