Bel Air, Md. -- The Knights defeated CCBC Catonsville 5-0 on Saturday, at host Harford Community College, to win its eighth straight NJCAA Region XX Division I Championship and 32nd in program history.

CCBC Essex will now play in the NJCAA East District Championship for a chance to go to the NJCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championship in Tyler Texas. The Knights open in the semifinal round at Essex County College this Saturday at 10 a.m.

Sophomore Isaiah Price (Bowie) scored the first goal in the regional title game, assisted by Wilfred Tinay (Owings Mills). It came in the 19th minute of play and was Price's 38th career tally.

The Knights (16-3) took a 1-0 lead into halftime, but came out strong in the second half.

Sophomore Acolmi Rios (Perry Hall) scored 14 minutes after the break to give Essex a 2-0 lead.

Three and a half minutes later, Tinay tallied his fifth of the season to make it 3-0.

Rios added his second of the game in the 88th minute and picked up his fist collegiate hat trick in the 89th to cap the scoring.

The Oxnard, California native now has six goals this season.

Freshman goalie Jack Roby (Oakdale) was stellar, making seven saves between the pipes.

His goals against average is now 1.17 and he owns a .798 save percentage to go along with 79 saves.

Head coach Joe Fiedler is now 17-0 in regional playoff matches.

The Knights will now look to win their first district title since 2008, which would also come with an automatic national tournament bid.

CCBC Essex has been to four national tournaments under Fiedler, including twice in the last three seasons.
