Bio

Horning was the assistant middle distance and distance coach Boonsboro High School (Boonsboro, Md.) prior to joining the CCBC Essex staff in 2017. At Boonsboro, girls and boys teams secured state titles in the Maryland Track and Field Championships during his time with the team. 

As a collegiate runner, he competed for Hagerstown Community College, his hometown school. During his time with the Hawks, Horning achieved All-NJCAA Academic team honors (2011 and 2012). He also competed at the NJCAA Championships for cross country (2011 and 2012) as well as indoor track (2011-2012 and 2012-2013). In addition, he was named Maryland JUCO student-athlete of the month (February 2013). One month later at the NJCAA Indoor track and field championships in Texas, Horning also achieved the honor of being named an NJCAA All-American in the men's 1,000 meter.

Horning continued his running career at Salisbury University (Salisbury, Md.) where he ran several personal bests. He was a member of the Distance Medley Relay team that broke the schools indoor record. He achieved second team all conference in the mile (2013-2014) and second team all cross country (2014). He graduated in May 2016 with a B.A. degree in History and a minor in athletic coaching.

Horning spends his days teaching middle school math at Fort Worthington Elementary/Middle School (Baltimore, Md.). He resides in Baltimore.
