By Russell Hodge

Rosedale, Md.— On Friday, April 15th 2022, the Knights had a dominant double header victory in Cecil County as they played the Cecil College Seahawks during their spring break in a MD JUCO Region 20 Division II matchup. Both of these games were shutouts as the Knights won the first 8-0 and then again won the second 7-0.

In game one, the Knights would score at least one run in almost every inning highlighted in the fourth with three. The only innings that saw the knights not score were the first and ninth. No runs were scored at all by the Seahawks that accounted for the 8-0 Knights victory.

On offense, the Knights had nine hits led by Mitchell Haywood, Armando Prieto, and Waskar Vicente Martinez each with two a piece while as a team had six RBIs led by Waskar Vicente Martinez with three. The team did all they could on offense as they only allowed five batters on base.

Defensively, the first of two shutouts of the day was won, started and finished by Todd Murphy as he pitched every ball in this one for the Knights.  Throughout the contest Murphy got his shutout through seven innings pitched, he allowed just three hits and only walked two batters.

The second game saw the Knights continue their momentum early finishing the first inning 2-0 and did not look back all game as they finished it winning 7-1.

Offensively, here the Knights had scored their seven runs off of eight hits and saw themselves get walked five times. Liam Bowers led the team in hits with RBI's with two while Luis Marrero led in hits with two.

As Todd Murphey pitched the entire first game by himself, Jake Crawford did the same in the second. Crawford pitched his seven innings allowing just two hits and walked just three batters. Crawford finished this game by striking out a whopping 11 batters out of the 28 he faced.

The Knights are now rolling on a four game win streak improving their record to 14-14-1 and play their next two games at home against Hagerstown Community College in a double header on Thursday -another MD JUCO Region 20 Division II matchup. First pitch of game one is scheduled for 1:00pm.  All Knights home games including this one can be seen in person for free or on the Knights Youtube channel live at www.youtube.com/CCBCEssexKnights
