Men's Soccer: Knights Beat Raptors, Take Over Conference Lead

ROSEDALE, Md. -- The Knights used a strong, three-goal second half last night to defeat Montgomery College 4-1 at CCBC Essex Stadium, taking sole possession of first place in the Maryland Juco Athletic Conference.

Steve Momenya (Parkdale) converted a penalty kick in the 48th minute of play - his third goal of the season - to put the Knights ahead 2-1 and CCBC Essex never looked back.

The Knights (8-5) are now 8-1 in conference and hold the top spot in Maryland Juco over Frederick Community College.

Nehemiah Crawford (Baltimore City College) scored in the 15th minute to put the Knights on the board.

Crawford dribbled past two Raptor defenders in the box before juking keeper Juan Maraboli (Albert Einstein) for the score.

The Raptors (9-6-2, 6-2 Maryland Juco) scored its lone goal at 35:22.

Chris Rivera (John F. Kennedy) sent the ball into the box off a set piece and Arash Kamali put a beautiful diving head shot into the lower left side.

After Momenya's tally gave the Knights a one goal lead, Javier Avetrani (Oakland Mills) scored in the 80th minute of play, with an assist from Gaige Robinson (Perry Hall).

Ibrahim Kouyate (Blair) scored at 81:22 to cap the Knights scoring. Storm Robinson (Our Lady of Mt. Carmel) had the assist.
