Knights Cross Country Shows Well at Dickinson Long & Short

Newville, Pa. -- The Knights cross country teams participated in the Dickinson Long-Short Invitational this past Saturday at Big Spring High School, hosted by Dickinson College.  

The Essex women's team had two runners participate in the 6K long race and 4K short race.

In the 6K, Madison Magaha (Patapsco) finished with a time of 30:12.5. Natalia Johnson (Sparrows Point) finished ran 22:23.28 in the 4K.

The men's long event consisted of an 8k which had four runners from Essex.

Braden Berkey out of Loch Raven High School had the best time for the Knights finishing 67th out of 141 runners with a  time of 30:46.51.

Sam Smith (Eastern Tech), Patrick Bennett (Patapsco), and Isaiah Halley (Overlea) finished within minutes of one another.

Smith had the best time of the trio at 33:40.86, followed by Bennett (35:11.94) and Halley (35:48.81).

The next meet for the Knights is on October 2nd as they travel to Salisbury University to compete in the Don Cathcart Invitational, which is scheduled to start at 2 p.m.
