No. 6 Knights Stay White Hot, Down No. 9 Owls 86-66 on the Road

Cranford, N.J. – The No. 6 ranked Knights women's basketball team moved to 15-0 on Tuesday, defeating No. 9 Union County 86-66, for their nineth road win of the season.

The Owls are 13-2 this season, both losses coming to the Knights. 

Union began the game hot outscoring Essex 34-22 in the first quarter.

The Knights battled back in the second, led by Patricia Anumgba (Silver Spring, Md) - who had a game-high 27 points - and Vanessa Woodfolk (Charlottesville, Va.) - who tied for a game-high 14 rebounds - making key baskets to reduce the deficit to 42-37 at halftime.

CCBC Essex heated in the second half, outscoring Union 49-27. 

The third quarter began to go the Knights way as Kelly Foster (Rock Hill, S.C.) made her presence known, finishing the game with 14 rebounds, six steals and three blocks to go with six points.

Jaelyn Swann (Elkridge, Md) would give the Knights a 1-point lead heading into the 4th quarter with a buzzer-beating three-pointer.

The Knights dominated the fourth, beating the Owls 32-14 in the final frame.

Woodfolk continued scoring almost whenever she wanted (10-20 from the field) and finished the game with 23 points along with three assists.

Anumgba finished with her fourth double-double this year on 11 rebounds to go with her 27 points, six steals and three assists. She shot 10-17 (58.8%) from the field.

Lyric Swann (Elkridge, MD) also scored in double digits, ending the night with 17 points and a team leading nine assists.

Next up, Essex travels to face Monroe College tomorrow for a 2 p.m. tip-off and return home against Monroe College-Bronx on Sunday for a 3 p.m. start.
