Rosedale, Md. -- Once again, the No. 3 ranked Knights women's basketball team was able to continue its win streak on Wednesday evening, beating the Montgomery College Raptors 114-56. The season streak now increases to 26-0 for the Knights.

Again, every player on the Knights team was able to score at least three points each. The game's highest points-made were 31 points by Lyric Swann (Elkridge, Md.). Slightly behind Swann, was Anasia Staton (Jersey City, NJ), scoring 23 points.

Each quarter of the game between the Knights and the Raptors, the Knights scored more than 20 points. Unfortunately for the Raptors, 20 was the maximum points scored in only one of the four quarters for the team.

Essex Knights were up 53-22 against the Montgomery Raptors at the end of the first half.

The Knights women's basketball team was able to get 20 more rebounds and 16 more assists than the Montgomery Raptors. Staton, Vanessa Woodfolk (Charlottesville, Va), and Kelly Foster (Rock Hill, SC.) all got 12 rebounds each, accounting for over half of the Knights 67 rebounds. Swann, Staton, Woodfolk, and Foster all finished the game with double-doubles. Swann also led the team with ten out of the 25 assists for the Knights, and Patricia Anumgba (Silver Spring, Md.) with another eight assists.

The CCBC Essex Knights were able to score 26 points off the Raptors 26 turnovers, and allowed Montgomery to score only eight points off of the 26 turnovers by Essex.

CCBC Essex scored over triple the points made in the paint than Montgomery, 62 and 20 points respectively.

The Knights were able to score 24 fast break points, while the Raptors were unable to get that advantage at any time during the game.

For the last eight and a half minutes of the game, the Knights only allowed the Raptors to score six points. The largest lead held by the Knights against Montgomery was 58 points.

Next up, the Knights will host the Hawks of the College of Southern Maryland at the CCBC Essex Wellness and Athletics Center Friday at 6:00pm.
