No. 3 Knights Continue on Their Path of Greatness

Rosedale, Md. -- The No. 3 ranked CCBC Essex women's basketball team took on College of Southern Maryland in Essex on Friday where the women of the CCBC Knights continued on their path of greatness. They are now 27-0, with a win streak of 46 straight games.

They defeated the College of Southern Maryland 129-50 with their largest lead of the game being 79 points. Everyone on the Knights roster scored at least 9 points, with Patricia Anumgba leading the team with 24 points.

The Knights came out strong right out of the gate in the first quarter, forcing 5 turnovers and scoring 35 points compared to the College of Southern Maryland scoring only 8 points in the first quarter.

In the first quarter, both Lyric Swann and Patricia Anumgba scored more points than College of Southern Maryland scored at all. Anumgba ended the first quarter with 10 while Swann ended with 9.

During the second quarter the Essex Knights continued to push ahead adding another 28 points while the College of Southern Maryland was only able to match their 8 points, ending the first half with a score of 63-16.

In the third quarter, the turnovers started flying in. The College of Southern Maryland had a game high 10 turnovers in that quarter alone. Throughout the game, the Essex Knights scored 38 points off of 32 turnovers from the College of Southern Maryland.

During the third quarter, the Knights had three people who scored nine points while Anasia Staton went perfect from the field this quarter: 3-3 on field goals, 1-1 from deep, and 2-2 from the line.

In the final quarter, Southern Maryland scored the most points they have all game with 19. The Knights scored 30 more points in the more to finish out the game strong with a final score of 129-50.
