Deuces Wild, No. 3 Knights Take Down the Cardinals

Rosedale, Md. -- On Tuesday February 22, 2022, the No. 3 CCBC Essex Knights squared off against the CCBC Catonsville Cardinals.  The Knights came right out of the gate on fire setting the momentum for the rest of the game. After taking on the Cardinals at home, the Knights improved to 29-0 on the season with a final score of 112-28.

The Knights came out making a statement with intense defense, pressing full court. They forced seven turnovers in the first quarter alone. Vanessa Woodfolk was half way to a double-double at the end of the first quarter, scoring 5 points with 6 rebounds.

Anasia Staton added some fuel to the fire with 11 points in the second quarter, shooting 5-of-7, while Vanessa Woodfolk and Kelly Foster both grabbed 4 rebounds each. Kelly Foster was swarming the ball with 4 steals in the second quarter. Catonsville added another 14 turnovers to make a total of 21 turnovers to end the half. The halftime score was 58-10 with Essex in the lead.

Coming out in the third quarter, the matched their 10 points they scored the whole first half, while Essex scored another 29 points. That made it 87-20 by the end of the quarter.

The Knights finished off the game forcing 30 turnovers and scoring 46 points off of those turnovers. At the final horn, the Knights had two players with double-doubles. Vanessa Woodfolk scored 10 points and 15 rebounds, while Anasia Staton added 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.

CCBC Essex continues their win streak to push it to 48 straight wins in a row, while they continue their perfect year. They will host Howard Community College on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at 2 P.M for their final contest of the regular season.
