Women’s Basketball 2022-23 Schedule Release

Rosedale, Md. – The CCBC Essex Knights Women's Basketball Team look to continue their recent success under Head Coach Mike Seney, who has led the Knights to a 65-3 overall record and two NJCAA Region 20 Championships in two season of competition.

Following a 30-2 record during the 2019-20 season and having the NJCAA Division II Women's Basketball Championship National Tournament cancelled due to COVID-19, and then not fielding a team during the 2020-21 season due to the pandemic, the Knights came back in 2021-22 season with a 35-1 record, going undefeated during the regular season. The Knights broke national records throughout the season including the NJCAA Division II Women's Basketball record for most points scored in a game with 153 against Allegany College of Maryland (Dec. 1, 2021). The Knights also broke the NJCAA Division II Women's Basketball record for consecutive wins with 40 (a streak started during their first season), which was extended to 53 before their loss in the NJCAA Division II Women's Basketball National Tournament Semi Finals to Morton College (Dec. 15, 2019-Mar. 18, 2022).

Pre-Season

The Knights will begin the season with a trip to Wilmington, Delaware on October 15th for the She Got Game Jamboree starting at 9 a.m. The Knights will return home on October 22nd when they host the CCBC Essex Jamboree which is scheduled to start at 12 p.m. Closing out their preseaon, the Knights will travel to Washington, D.C. on October 26th to scrimmage Washington Adventist University. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.

Home

The Knights home opener is November 3rd, taking on Richard Bland at 6 p.m. They continue their early homestand on November 8th vs Harcum College at 6 p.m. Two days later on November 10th, the Knights host Delaware Technical Community College at 6 p.m. CCBC Essex will wrap up November with a game against Frederick Community College on November 22nd, scheduled for 6 p.m.

The Knights are only scheduled to play two home games in the month of December, but both are regional matchups. The first comes on December 4th when the Community College of Beaver County visits The Castle for a matchup at 12 p.m. Then later in the week, a matchup with Prince George's Community College is scheduled for 12 p.m on December 10th.

In January, the Knights will host WVU Potomac State College on January 14th, Monroe College Express on January 21st, and Union College on January 28th. In February, the Knights final two home games of the season will be against Chesapeake College on the 11th and Garrett College on the 25th. These final five home games are all scheduled to start at 2 p.m.

Away

The Knights first away game will take place in Newark, N.J. as CCBC Essex travels to face Essex County College at 6 p.m. Then the Knights will continue to travel outside of Maryland for their next four away games against Richard Bland College on November 3rd (6 p.m.), Union College on November 12th (2 p.m.), Labette Community College on November 18th (6:30 p.m. CST), and Kansas City Kansas Community College (1 p.m. CST) The Knights will finish November traveling to North East, MD to face Cecil College at 6 p.m.

In December, the Knights travel to face Howard Community College on December 3rd (12 p.m.), Northern Virginia Community College on December 7th (7 p.m.), Monroe College on December 11th (2 p.m.), and Harford Community College on December 14th (6 p.m.). The Knights will finish December playing in the Cougar Holiday Tournament from December 28th through December 30th in East Peoria, Ill. The tournament is a bracket style with the Knights' first game being on the 28th against Bryant & Stratton College (Wisc.) at 5 p.m (CST).

In January and February, the Knights will have three away games in each month. They start with travelling to Catonsville to take on CCBC Catonsville on January 11th at 5 p.m. They will close out January with a trip to face Hagerstown Community College on January 23rd at 5:30 p.m., and then visiting Allegany College of Maryland two days later on January 25th at 6 p.m.

The Knights final three away games will start on February 8th at Anne Arundel Community College at 6 p.m., followed by a trip to La Plata, Md. to face College of Southern Maryland on February 15th at 5 p.m. The final away game of the season will be against Montgomery College on February 18th at 6 p.m.

Postseason

CCBC Essex will host the NJCAA Region 20 Division II Quarterfinals on March 7th. The NJCAA Region 20 Division II Tournament will be on March 10-11 hosted by Frederick Community College. The NJCAA Division II National Tournament will be returning to the SC4 Fieldhouse in Port Huron, Michigan on March 21-25.
