Women's Lacrosse: Knights Name Schroeder Head Coach

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD -- Community College of Baltimore County, Essex Athletics yesterday announced that it has named Kandice Schroeder head women's lacrosse coach.

Prior to joining the Knights, Schroeder was the head girl's lacrosse coach at Sparrows Point High School (2015-17) and Patapsco High School (2009-2015).

A CCBC women's lacrosse alumni, Schroeder was a student-athlete at CCBC Catonsville in 2005 and 2006. In 2005, Schroeder and the Cardinals won the NJCAA National Championship and were national runners-up the following season. As a sophomore captain, Schroeder earned All NJCAA Region XX and All Maryland JUCO Conference Player of the Year honors, and was selected to the NJCAA All-American First Team and NJCAA Lacrosse Championship All Tournament Team.

After CCBC, Schroeder attended and played at Lindenwood University, an NCAA Division II college in St. Charles, Missouri. A captain with the Lions, she was a two-time Women's Division Intercollegiate Associates (now Women's Collegiate Lacrosse Association) Academic All-American, two-time WDIA All-American, WDIA All Tournament team, two-time All Central Plains Women's Lacrosse League First Team and twice name CPWLL Offensive Player of the Year. Schroeder still ranks No. 6 all-time with the Lions in points (166) and No. 5 in goals scored (137).  She earned her Bachelor of Science (Psychology) from Lindenwood in 2008.

Schroeder began working for Patapsco in 2009 as a paraeducator, and would later coach girl's soccer and lacrosse. In May 2016, she completed her Master of Education in School Counseling (Loyola University Maryland) and is now a school counselor at Sparrows Point.

She currently resides in Baltimore, Md.
