CCBC Essex Women's Cross Country, Klein Finish Well at Goldey-Beacom

WILMINGTON, Del.-- The Lady Knights cross country team traveled 70 miles on Saturday to participate in the 2014 Goldey-Beacom Fall Classic at Goldey-Beacom College.

Freshman Katie Klein placed 18th out of a field of 74 runners in the 5K with a time of 22:54.28, making her the highest junior college finisher at the event.

Her time was only 2:33.85 off the winning time of 20:20.43 and just 39 seconds from a top 10 finish. Klein ran better than 47 participants from four-year universities and colleges.

Fellow freshmen Christie Davison, Shirley Reyes, Brittany Fallon and Katie Patro also ran well in Delaware.   

Davison came in 58th place with a time of 27:44.02, ahead of 10 four-year institution runners.

Reyes' time of 29:15.21 earned her a 63rd place finish, higher than 7 NCAA runners.

Fallon and Patro finished 67th and 70th, with times of 30:17.24 and 31:27.11, respectively. The two combined to beat out 10 runners from NCAA member colleges.

The Lady Knights will run again this Saturday at the Goucher Cross Country Classic in Baltimore, Md.
