Cross Country: Knights Begin Season at Mustang Stampede

STEVENSON, Md. -- CCBC Essex men's and women's cross country begin their season last night at the annual Mustang Stampede meet, hosted by Stevenson University. The Knights were the only two-year college in competition. 

All eight Knights were running their first collegiate race and finished respectably in a field that included Johns Hopkins University, Stevenson, Catholic, Goucher College and St. Mary's (Md.).

Men
Cyrus Haynes (Dunbar) was the top Knights' finisher in the men's 6K with a time of 21:44.46. He placed 38th in the field of 64 runners.

Kadiv Wallace (Dunbar) came in 43rd with a time of 22:29.32, Tim Schaefer (Dulaney) 53rd with a time of 23:39.96, Ishmael Shaheeddavis (Glen Burnie) 56th and Ibrahim Shaheeddavis (Glen Burnie) 57th with times of 23:51.92 and 23:54.82, respectively. 

Women
The Knights top finisher was Alisa Lawton (Dundalk) with a time of 19:09.15 in the women's 4K, which placed her 52nd out of 67 runners.

Sabrina Lepus (Eastern Tech) and Angela Johnson (Patapsco) placed 61st and 62nd with times of 20:10.62 and 20:17.03, respectively.

The Knights' next meet is scheduled for Saturday, September 9 in the Hornet Invitational hosted by Delaware State.
