Cross Country: Men, Women Runners-Up in Region XX Division I

HAGERSTOWN, MD -- CCBC Essex cross country culminated its return season on Saturday in great fashion as the men and women each finished second to Harford in NJCAA Region XX Division I.

The Knights men also finished second in the Maryland JUCO Athletic Conference and the women fourth. 

Men
Cyrus Haynes (Dunbar) was the Knights top runner. He finished the 8k in 29:36.0, good enough for sixth in Region XX Division I and Maryland JUCO and All Maryland JUCO honors.

Kadiv Wallace (Dunbar) ran seventh in Region XX Division I with a time of 30:47.0 (ninth Maryland JUCO) and Ishmael Shaheeddavis (Glen Burnie) finished at 31:06.0 - a personal record - for eighth and 10th place, respectively. 

Ibrahim Shaheeddavis (Glen Burnie) completed the race with a personal record time of 31:18.0 (9th Region XX Division I, 11th Maryland JUCO) and Tim Schaefer (Dulaney) ran 31:43 (11th Region XX Division I, 13th Maryland JUCO).

Women
Alisa Lawton (Dundalk) led the Knights with a personal record time of 23:53.0 in the 4k. She was 12th in Region XX Division I and 10th in Maryland JUCO.

Sabrina Lepus (Eastern Technical) and Angela Johnson (Patapsco) also finished with personal record times.

Lepus ran 24:22.0 (14th Region XX Division I and 12th Maryland JUCO) and Johnson 25:24.0 (17th Region XX Division I and 18th Maryland JUCO).

Two student athletes new to cross country - Jessica Van Laer (Eastern Technical) and Marisa Hernandez (Eastern Technical) - also ran well. 

Van Laer ran 32:03.0 and Hernandez 32:48.0
