Bio

Matt Hoerr was hired as the assistant men’s and women’s cross country coach prior to the fall 2018 season. He has been a part of the men’s NJCAA Region XX Division I and Maryland Juco Conference championships in 2018 and the women’s NJCAA Region XX Division I championship in 2019. CCBC Essex is Hoerr's first coaching position.

As a collegiate student-athlete, Hoerr competed for Salisbury University in cross country and track & field for four years. He was a member of the All-Academic Team for Cross Country and Track & Field in the Capital Athletic Conference all four years. Hoerr also was a contributing member of the cross country conference championship team in 2014 and two track & field conference championship teams (2014 and 2015).  He served as co-captain of the men's cross country team in 2016 and co-captain of the men's track & field distance team in 2017. Hoerr graduated from Salisbury in 2017 with a B.S. degree in Computer Science and a minor in Mathematics.

In high school, Hoerr attended C. Milton Wright High School (Bel Air, Md.) from 2009-2013. He led the Mustangs as the top distance runner for three consecutive years in both cross country and track & field. Hoerr made three 3A Maryland State Track & Field Championship appearances and three 3A Maryland State Cross Country Championship appearances. He made multiple Top 25 finishes in cross country for the state of Maryland and multiple Top 10 finishes in the two-mile for the state as well. 

Hoerr now spends his days as a software engineer for Boeing and currently resides in Bel Air, Md.
