Bio

Greg Witkop was named the Administrator of Essex Athletics in 2014, after previously serving in the same role for the CCBC Catonsville campus since 2011.

During his tenure at CCBC, Witkop has served as the NJCAA Region XX Committee Chairperson for women’s basketball, women’s lacrosse and men’s basketball, as well as the men’s assistant region director. He was also selected as Maryland JUCO Conference Secretary and then President, in addition to being a member of the NJCAA men’s soccer and basketball committees.

Prior to CCBC, Witkop served multiple roles at Harford Community College (2005-2010), including head men’s basketball coach, student-athlete academic liaison, and game operations coordinator.

Before his time at Harford, Witkop was the head women’s basketball coach at Erie Community College (2004-2005), head women’s soccer and assistant women’s basketball assistant coach at Cecil College (2003-2004), sports information director, assistant men’s basketball coach, and assistant men’s soccer coach at Niagara County Community College (1998-2002), and assistant track and field coach focusing in sprints and hurdles for Starpoint High School (1997-2002).  

Witkop earned his Associate of Arts in May of 1998 from Niagara County Community College while playing on the men’s basketball team. He continued his education at Buffalo State College, receiving his Bachelor of Science in Secondary Social Studies Education in December 2000. While at CCBC Essex, Witkop completed his Master of Science in Sport Management and Intercollegiate Athletic Administration from the California University of Pennsylvania in (August 2016).

He was a three-sport student-athlete at Starpoint, playing football, basketball, and track and field. A born and raised Buffalo native, he is a huge Buffalo Bills fan.

Witkop currently resides in Rosedale, Md. with his wife of 15 years, Mary Beth. Together they have four children: Alexis, Mark, Haili, and Malia, and their cat, Mew.
