Knights Offensive Not Enough to Hold Off Catonsville

Rosedale, Md.—The Knights continued their beginning of the season road trip on Tuesday, March 8th, losing to CCBC Catonsville 4-1. Both teams battled through the first four and half innings even at 0-0 before Catonsville broke through in the bottom of the fifth, scoring three of their four total runs for the game. The Cardinals would add their final run of the game in the bottom of the seventh inning to make the score 4-0. The Knights would respond with one run in the top of the eighth but couldn't find a way to keep the bats hot despite outhitting the Cardinals 9-5.

Starting the game for the Knights was freshman Danny Padilla. Padilla began the game strong, only giving up two hits and two walks with two strikeouts. He also had a 1-2-3 inning in the bottom half the third. Padilla would finish his outing giving up three runs on four hits along with four walks and four strikeouts over six innings. Freshman Joey Galloway would relieve him in the seventh and would pitch 1.2 innings, giving up one run on one hit and one walk with a strikeout. Freshman Todd Murphy would finish the eighth inning, recording the final out.

The only run of the game for the Knights came from freshman Mitchell Haywood with a solo home run in the top of the eighth. He would end the game with two hits. Leading the Knights in hits for the game was sophomore outfielder Eric Elliot with three. The other hits from the Knights came from freshman Likeiry Taveras Jimenez (2), sophomore Armando Prieto (1), and freshman Luis Marrero (1).

The Knights return to action in a rematch against CCBC Catonsville for their first home game of the season on Friday, March 11th. First pitch is scheduled for 3 PM.
