Knights Drop Both to Harford

Rosedale, Md.— The Knights traveled to Bel Air, MD on Tuesday, March 15th for a double header against Harford Community College. The Knights would end up losing both games, the first 11-5 and the second 12-1 in 5 innings.

Starting on the mound in the first game for the Knights was freshman Patrick Bradley-Cooney. He would record his third loss of the season lasting 2.1 innings, giving up six runs (five earned) on two hits and three walks. Bradley-Cooney would end his outing with 5 strikeouts which led the team for the first game. Mistakes continue to be an issue for the Knights ending the first game with six hit by pitches, five wild pitches, and one error.

Relieving Bradley-Cooney in the second inning was freshman Eric Harrison. He finished his outing pitching 2.2 innings, giving up five runs (four earned) on seven hits including a two-RBI homerun and two walks. Closing the game was Tucker Freer who pitched one inning and only gave up one walk.

Providing the offense for the Knights was freshman Likeiry Taveras Jimenez and sophomore Eric Elliot. Elliot provided two RBIs on two singles and Taveras Jimenez provided one RBI on a solo shot to left field in the top of the fourth. The other two Knights runs came from a fielding error and freshman Alexander Rivera stealing home in the top of the sixth.

The Knights couldn't find the offensive spark they needed to turn things around in the second game. The only run of the game came from Jimenez with another solo shot in the top of the second.

Starting the second game for the Knights was freshman Jacob Murgitroyde. He would record his first loss of the season pitching two innings, giving up four runs (three earned) on five hits with a walk and two strikeouts. Relieving him was freshman Tommy Peifley. He pitched one inning, giving up one run on no hits with three walks and three strikeouts.

Finishing the game for the Knights on the mound was sophomore Eric Elliot and sophomore Armando Prieto. Elliot would pitch 0.2 innings giving up six runs on one hit with five walks and two strikeouts. Prieto would finish the inning pitching 0.1 innings giving up one run on one hit with a walk and a strikeout. The game concluded in the fifth inning due to the mercy rule.

The Knights return to the diamond on Sunday, March 20th when they host Erie Community College in a double header. First pitches are scheduled for 12 and 2 PM. Fans can attend the games or watch on the CCBC Essex Knights Youtube Channel.
