Men's Lacrosse: Knights Top 'Stangs JV

OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- The No. 2 Knights picked up its second road win on Friday defeating Stevenson University JV 12-7, despite missing a couple of key players.

Sophomore Brendan Nolan (Fallston) picked up his first hat trick of the season and freshman Matt LeCompte (Stephen Decatur) had five points on two goals and three assists.

"Stevenson is one of the more talented teams we'll play," said Knights' head coach Shawn Burke. "I thought we were pretty balanced on offense, even though we were missing key offensive players. [The coaches] and I shuffled some pieces a bit and moved guys around and they reacted great. Our defense also played very well."

The Knights (2-0) jumped out to an early advantage and led 8-3 after the first quarter.

Sophomore Derek Taylor (Perry Hall) had two goals and two assists, while freshman Raphael Vargas (Desert Vista) scored a goal and two assists.

Sophomore Dylan Riley (Windsor) and freshman Nick Esser (Fallston) each had two goals and sophomore Tyler Oblong (Loveland) added an assist.

Freshman goalie Brody Bartel (Hereford) played all 60 minutes and saved 12-of-19 Mustang shots on goal.

Next up: The Knights are back on the road and face Delaware Technical & Community College this Sunday in Dover, Del. at 12:00 p.m.
