Men's Lacrosse: Knights Win Big Over Lakers To Cap Perfect Weekend

ROSEDALE, Md. -- The Knights game yesterday against Finger Lakes Community College was not as suspenseful as Saturday's overtime victory versus Genesee Community College, but it was a convincing 22-1 victory in front of a home crowd at CCBC Essex Stadium.

Sophomore Brandyn O'Connell (Downingtown) led the Knights with five points on two goals and three assists.

Sophomores Dylan Dooley (The Calverton School) and Deangelo Watkins (Decatur) had a game-high three goals each. Watkins also added an assist.

Freshman Matt LeCompte (Stephen Decatur) finished with two goals on the day and fellow first-year Nick Esser (Fallston) had two goals and one assist.

After scoring the game winner against Genesee the day before, sophomore Derek Taylor (Perry Hall) contributed two goals against Finger Lakes and leads the team with 14 tallies.

Freshman Raphael Vargas (Desert Vista) also scored two goals, as did sophomore Dylan Riley (Windsor).

Freshmen Mike Marsden (E. Forsyth), Mike Haley (Perry Hall), Chris Parrott (Havre de Grace), and Timothy Roesler (Carlisle) all scored for the Knights and freshman Wes Rumple (Fallston) finished the day with one assist.

The Knights (5-0) very well could have scored 30 goals had it not been for the Lakers' sophomore goalie Matt Spoor (Penn Yan Academy) saving 12 in the first half, prior to being relieved at halftime.

Next up for the Knights

Essex will play its third game in four days on Tuesday when Frederick Community College comes to down. The game is schedule for 6 p.m. and the live stream will be available on the Knights' men's lacrosse home page.
