ROSEDALE, Md. -- The No. 3 Knights scored early and often on Saturday as they defeated Cecil College 31-2 in front of a home crowd at CCBC Essex Stadium.

Sophomore Blake McDonald (Assumption) put the Knights on the board just 57 seconds into the game.

Sophomore Deangelo Watkins (Decatur) led all scorers with six goals and added two assists.

Raphael Vargas (Desert Vista) finished closely behind Watkins with four goals and two assists. It was the freshman's best game this year and made even more special as his mother and grandmother flew in from Arizona to attend the game.

Sophomore Derek Taylor (Perry Hall) and freshman Matt LeCompte (Stephen Decatur) both scored one goal and had one assist each. Taylor – the team's leading goal scorer with 23 – has posted at least two points in each of the Knights' eight games this year.

The Knights (8-1, 2-0 Maryland JUCO) began to shack things up a bit in the second half of the lopsided victory.

Freshman reserve goalie Dylan McCleaft (Penncrest) entered the game on attack and not only did he score his first collegiate goal, but he would finish with three goals and an assist.

Freshman Ralph Ruggiero (Catoctin) also netted his first goal at the college level.

Freshman midfielder Wes Rumple (Fallston) was the Knights' fourth goalie of the day, following Brody Bartell (Hereford), Shane Silk (Susquehannock) and Colin May (Archbishop Curley).

Sophomore John Williamson (W.T. Woodson) scored one goal, as did freshman Nick Esser (Fallston).

Sophomores Brandyn O'Connell (Downingtown) and Brendan Nolan (Fallston) scored two goals and two assists and two goals and one assist, respectively.

Sophomore Dylan Riley (Winsor) tallied three goals and added an assist to the stat sheet, while freshman Timothy Roesler (Carlisle) finished the day with three goals.

Freshman Mike Marsden (E. Forsyth) scored two goals and added an assist and freshman Rashard Holman (Randallstown) finished the day with one assist.

Next up for the Knights
