Knights Take Down Owls in First Game of the Season

Rosedale, Md.—The Essex Men's Lacrosse team returned from their first game of the season with a dominating victory against Union County College with a final score of 26-7. The Knights started the game on fire outscoring Union 12-1 in the first quarter. Once their momentum was in motion, the Knights didn't slow down adding another eight goals in the second quarter. Part of their dominance on the scoreboard came from winning the majority of the faceoffs.

The twelve goals in the first quarter came from eleven different players. The last goal of the first quarter came from Freshman attacker Charlie Evans who would go on to add one in every quarter, ending the game with a 4-goal performance. His five shots were tied for second on the team that day, with Sophomore midfielder James Mooney leading the team with seven shots. With his seven shots, Mooney was able to provide two goals for the Knights.

Freshman midfielder Emory Hays had a three-goal performance with two goals in the second quarter and one in the fourth. Freshman attacker Anthony Holloway Truxon ended the game with a two goals and three assists.

Other players who finished with two goals include Freshman attacker JJ Dickens, Sophomore midfielder Jaydn Castillo, and Freshman attacker Owen Fasulka.

All four goalies for the Knights had the chance to play a quarter. Sophomore goalie Jacob Lantz started the game and allowed a goal on the only shot he faced. Freshman goalie Jacob Smith would take over in the second quarter making three saves on six shots. To start the second half, Freshman goalie Josh Maze entered the game and made two saves on three shots. Freshman goalie Scott Fisher went between the pipes to finish up for the Knights and recorded three saves on five shots.
