CCBC Essex Men’s Soccer Defeats Montgomery College 1-0, Evens Season Record

The Knights hit the road last Friday, Sept. 11 for a match against Maryland Juco and Region XX rival Montgomery College. Sophomore forward Roman Bubalo (Baltimore Polytechnic) netted a penalty kick in the 76th minute and freshman goalie Trevor Brookhart (Liberty) stopped his second penalty kick of the season early in the second half to help give the Knights a 1-0 victory.

Not only did the win even the Knights record on the season (2-2), but they held on down the stretch while playing down two men.

Freshman Michael Johnson (Bladensburg) was issued a red card in the 21st minute of play and sophomore Justin Ornelas (Perry Hall) picked up his second yellow in the second half.

The Raptors (0-1-1), still in search of its first victory of the season, held the Knights off the scoreboard until Bubalo's late goal, but could not mount an offensive presence strong enough to beat the Knights defense and Brookhart.

Next up is a road game for the Knights against intra-campus rival CCBC Catonsville today at 6 p.m.

Essex will bid for its third win in a row.
