FREDERICK, MD -- Trailing 1-0 on the road against a conference opponent, the Knights tallied two goals in the last seven minutes of play yesterday to defeat the Frederick Community College Cougars 2-0 and remain perfect in Maryland JUCO Athletic Conference play.
Freshman Edwin Navas (Reading) scored the Knights' first goal with 6:49 remaining in regulation to tie the game.
Less than four minutes later, freshman Jake Dengler (John Carroll School) netted the game-winner.
"This [Knights] team showed a lot of heart tonight," said head coach Joe Fiedler. "They never let the early deficit get them down; we had a lot of belief in ourselves. We learned a lot about ourselves from this game."
Navas' goal was his third this season and Dengler now leads the Knights with five.
The Knights (5-1, 4-0 Maryland JUCO) have off today and tomorrow, as they prepare to host Hagerstown Community College on Friday. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
