Men's Track & Field: Romanoski Open Wrap Up

Morgantown, W.Va. -- CCBC Essex traveled last Saturday to compete in its second meet of the season, the Romanoski Open, hosted by West Virginia University.

"The Knights had an up and down day," said head coach Noah Hutton. "Overall, the coaches and I are proud of their efforts and fight. We look forward to seeing what we can do at our next meet."

Once again CCBC Essex was the only two-year college to compete in a field that included host WVU, West Liberty, Point Park, Salem, California University (Pa.), Pitt, Frostburg, Kent State, Carlow, Wheeling, Glenville State and Rio Grande.

Liam Mischke (Loch Raven) had the strongest performance of the day finishing 4th in the 3,000m with a time of 10:01.

Dev Patel (Franklin) started off with a season personal record of 59.89 in the 400m.

Patrick Bennett (Patapsco) ran his fastest 800m in over four years with a time of 2:41.

Garrett Harris (Loch Raven) and Jimmy Rudolph (Dundalk) finished 4th and 7th, respectively, in the 1,500m.

To get a little extra work, the men's 4x400 ran a 3:58 to close out the meet.

The relay team consisted of Harris, Rudolph, Patel and Parker Klausner (Dulaney).

Essex has nearly a month off to recuperate and train until its next meet on April 17, as the Knights look to improve at the All-American Invitation/Open Meet, hosted by East Stroudsburg University (East Stroudsburg, Pa.).
