Knights' Moye Earns NJCAA Division II Player of the Week

Charlotte, N.C. -- The National Junior College Athletic Association yesterday announced its Player of the Week awards (December 16-January 5) and Knights' Mya Moye earned the honor for Division II Women's Basketball.

Moye (Anacostia) has been electric all season, but has begun to hit her stride over the last month.

In the seven games covered by this week's awards - encompassing three weeks due to winter breaks - Moye scored 20 or more four times, including 32 on December 18 in a 94-70 win against Chesapeake College.

Moye was also named the National Title IX Holiday Tournament (December 27-29) MVP, as the Knights took home the championship, winning its three games by an average margin of 27 points.

She averaged 22.3 points per game at the tournament, including 38.3% (18-47) from the field, 36.4% (8-22) behind the arc, 82% (23-28) at the line, 3.7 rebounds, 6.7 assists and four steals.

Last night, Moye scored a career-high 41 points on 14-21 shooting (2-5 from three), with nine assists, six steals and four boards in the Knights' 107-59 win at Montgomery College.

Currently, Moye is one of only two Division II student-athletes in the country to rank in the Top 10 in scoring and assists per game. She is averaging 21.5 points per game and 6.5 assists, which are 7th and 6th best, respectively.

She is second in the Maryland Juco Conference and Region XX Division II in scoring and assists per game.
