No. 6 Knights Come From Two Goals Down, Beat Monroe College 4-3

ROSEDALE, Md. – Going into last Saturday's home game against Monroe College (Bronx, NY) the Knights had outscored its opponents 27-1, then suddenly found themselves in a 2-0 hole at halftime.

Head coach Joe Fiedler and his assists must have given a riveting halftime speech because the Knights scored four second half goals, allowing just one, en route to a 4-3 comeback victory.

Freshman Kyle Smith scored the game-winning goal with 1:14 remaining in regulation. Smith was in position at the back post during a Knights free kick and buried his first career collegiate goal.

The Knights (7-0) received its first goal from freshman Kyle Mizell in the 65' of play. Less than one minute later, freshman Colby Fell tied the game at two with his first college-level goal.

The game remained tied until the 77' of play when Monroe scored after a bombardment of shots were not cleared by the defense.

Sophomore goalie Jake Ossie made three consecutive saves, in a matter of seconds, before Monroe put one past him.

Monroe (1-2) enjoyed its lead for less than two minutes.

In the 78' of play, sophomore Jason Kim tied the game at three with his second goal of the season.

Monroe had an opportunity to take the lead in the 83' of play, but Ossie set aside a free kick shot on goal.

Smith's goal came six minutes later to give the Knights the lead for good, as Ossie and the defense held Monroe scoreless in the waning moments of the game.

Next up for the Knights is Cecil College at home on Wednesday at 4 PM.
